Dr Mike Hieb, C4I Research Affiliate recently received $25,000 from a total anticipated funding of $441,852 from ALION for his project "SIMCI Consultant Services." The initial budget period is 3/1/2012 through 9/30/2012. The anticipated end date is 9/30/16.

Dr Sam Malek, C4I Research Affiliate and Assistant Professor in Computer Science recently received $499,077 from DARPA for his project "Engineering Highly Adaptive Resilient Software Systems".

Paulo Costa, Research Assistant Professor in the Systems Engineering and Operations Research Department and the C4I Center, and Kathryn Laskey, Associate Professor also in the SEOR Department and Associate Director of the C4I Center, have received $247,000 from the US Army for the project "Mathematical Fundamentals of Probabilistic Semantics for Higher-Level Fusion."

The Discrete EVent System Specification (DEVS), developed by C4I Center affiliate Dr. Bernard Zeigler, continues to grow as a technical basis for advanced simulation. Recently, CRC Press published a new book built around DEVS: Discrete-Event Modeling and Simulation: Theory and Applications (G. Wainer and P. Mosterman, eds.).

Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity (IARPA) has awarded the C4I Center participation in the Aggregative Contingent Estimation (ACE) program. A team led by Dr. Charles Twardy and Dr. Kathryn Laskey will receive about $2M/year for 1-4 years for a project to use new techniques to improve forecasting.
